Counseling for Young Adults in Colorado

You finally finished high school. Yay! And now you’re in college or working, maybe you’ve moved out or maybe you’re living at home. But something feels off.
Did I choose the right school?
Should I have gone to school?
Did I choose the right major?
Why am I feeling so lost and anxious?
Why is it so hard to make friends?
What will my parents think if I change majors/drop out/change jobs/move out/move home?
How will I ever manage all of this stress?
Counseling Can Help
The transition from high school to adult life is an exciting - and also stressful- time. Maybe you had this picture in your head of how it was going to be, and now it doesn’t quite feel right. Counseling can help you manage the stress of this transition along with other mental health concerns that have either been ongoing or have emerged since you left home.
Unlike talking with friends or family — a therapist will listen without judgment and give you the space to explore all of the possibilities in your life without an agenda.
Common Topics for Young Adults
-
Anxiety can make you feel on edge and constantly annoyed with everyone and everything. Counseling can help you learn more about how your brain works, how to manage your stress/anxiety cycles, and how to cope with stress without panic attacks or avoidance.
-
Fear of what others might think, facing judgement from your friends and feeling a sense of panic everytime you’re in a crowd is no way to live. Counseling can help you build confidence and self-esteem and teach you skills to cope with the anxiety you feel around other people.
-
Losing a loved one is always difficult. It is even more difficult when you are far from home in a new environment with new friends who might not understand. Counseling can help you move through your grief so you can move forward.
-
Whether you’ve experienced abuse, been sexually assaulted, survived a natural disaster or school shooting or experienced any number of stressful situations in your past, counseling can give you the strategie and skills you need to move forward.
-
Whether it’s academics, sports or planning for the future, feeling pressure from your parents — or yourself — about what you should be doing is overwhelming. Learn the skills you need to speak up about your own goals and dreams and put your pressure to perform in perspective.
-
Whether it’s maintaining a long distance romance with someone back home, or exploring new relationships at school, learning to engage, set boundaries and communicate as an adult can feel like a whole new world. Counseling can help you figure out how you truly feel about your relationship and provide support when you need to make difficult decisions.
