Anxiety shows up in all kinds of ways:

It’s that undercurrent of worry that doesn’t quite go away.

It’s the racing thoughts at night, the tension in your shoulders, the sense that you have to keep it all together even when you’re exhausted.

You look fine on the outside — you’re managing work, relationships, family — but inside, you feel anxious, restless, or stuck.

You tell yourself it’s just stress. Or that once things settle down, you’ll feel better. But deep down, you know something else is going on.

Your anxiety isn’t random — it’s trying to get your attention. It’s saying, “something needs to change.”

Raise your hand if you’ve tried it all!

The journaling prompts, guided meditations, sleep hygiene routines, breathing techniques, self-help books and even therapy.

And it works for a while. It helps a little. But eventually the old patterns show up again.

That’s because these approaches all focus on relieving your symptoms.

You need to focus on what your ANXIETY is trying to SHOW you.

Your anxiety isn’t just a feeling to manage — it’s a signal that something deeper in your life, your relationships, or your sense of self is asking for attention.

So how does this actually work?

Here’s what you can expect when we work together…

Slow Down and Listen

We start by creating space to truly understand what your anxiety is trying to tell you — not to silence it, but to hear it. Together we uncover the deeper needs, patterns, and emotions beneath the surface.

Confront Old Patterns

You’ll begin to recognize the habits and beliefs that have kept you stuck — like people-pleasing, perfectionism, or overfunctioning — and learn healthier ways to respond.

Build Your Anxiety Toolbox

You’ll leave each session with practical strategies to manage anxiety in real-time: Once you understand what your anxiety is trying to tell you, THEN you can work on calming your mind, grounding your body, and setting boundaries that support your peace.

Reclaim Your Confidence

As you start to trust yourself again, you’ll notice less self-doubt and more clarity in your decisions, relationships, and sense of purpose.

Create Lasting Change

We’ll turn your insights into action so you can move forward feeling more grounded, more peaceful, and more like yourself — not because the anxiety is gone, but because it no longer controls you.

Hi, I’m Cheryl Somers

Therapist, Teacher, Mom

I understand these struggles because I’ve been there myself, and I’ve helped women just like you make sense of the “messy middle” part of life — the years when we’re getting older but we’re definitely not old! Everything feels harder — perimenopause symptoms are wreaking havoc on our bodies, our teenagers/young adult kids are driving us crazy, work doesn’t feel as meaningful as it did before, and now our parents are starting to need our help. But you don’t have to go through this alone.

I specialize in helping women just like you get your anxiety in check, set better boundaries with your kids (and also your parents!), and break free from patterns of perfectionism and people-pleasing that may have started in childhood. Together, we will work on building confidence, shaking off the self-doubt, and creating a life that feels more authentic and fulfilling.

Therapy should feel like a conversation with someone who truly gets it—someone who listens without judgment but also helps you figure out what’s next. I bring not only my training as a therapist but also my lived experience as a Gen X woman myself and a mom of two young adult daughters. I know that life is complicated, and you’re here because you want tools and strategies to navigate it—not just to talk about it.

Whether you're struggling with unmanaged anxiety, family expectations, relationships that aren’t working, parenting, caring for aging parents or just the overwhelm of life, I can offer you an unbiased, outside perspective and practical strategies to help you move forward with more purpose and more confidence.

Our work together isn’t just about venting or going in circles—we’ll focus on real solutions. While processing emotions and understanding your past is important, I also want you to walk away from each session with practical tools and a clearer path forward. Whether it’s tackling anxiety, handling difficult conversations and setting boundaries with your loved ones, or making decisions that align with your values, my goal is to help you take meaningful steps toward the life you want.
